Hi there like mentioned in this thread, I will start the discussion how we begin the documentation and tutorials project for FruityWiFi. @xstr4nge: pls move this thread to the subforum i've asked you to create. thx! I will list here a couple of questions regarding the upstart for the project and answer them in my opinion (which is probably complete nonsense ) 1. What we will exactly do?I think thats 3 things. one is to get a proper documentation for FruityWiFi and all of its modules, second is to make video/text/screenshot tutorials using FW in practical situations, and third is a glossary/linklist on general pentesting topics. The weight should be on the first and second. 2. How do we organize this Informations?in my opinion, a wiki system is the right choice. Documentation can be completely held in a wiki and tutorial videos could be hosted at youtube and linked in. There are some free wiki hosters out there, maybe the github wiki fits our needs. Its also possible to operate a wiki on own webspace. I dont know the possibilities we have here. 3. What we have?By the moment we have a bunch of information and media, some of them a bit outdated, spread over various places like github, the project website and the forum. 4. (more questions to come..)What ca I do for the project?- setup wiki - admin wiki - gather already available information on github, website, etc. and bring it to the wiki - make wiki articles from raw text, recorded conversations etc. - review tutorials - review wiki articles not written by me ok, thats all by me now. Any comments and suggestions are welcome! regards, selli

I suggest we use github wiki page because most stuff is already there. It just need to be updated with the most recent information. For a start, lets look at the github page and see what and how to change or edit things. These are some suggestions to the main wiki articles on github page. - Introduction - Typical hardware that use it (ie: rPi, Linux), package requirement, etc
- Installation - Clone from github, apt-get install from repository, download zip & compile manually
- Configuration - Web interface, external modules, hostapd karma, etc
- Tutorials - individual modules should have its own tutorial.
- FAQ - wireless card driver, weird setup/config (ie: using eth0 & wlan0 simultaneously)
Now lets try to clone the wiki page part of this repository to our local machine so that we may update it with the latest and the fruitiest information. Copy the link above from the wiki page and paste it onto your machine in order to clone it locally. Good.. lets try to fetch upstrem and see if there is any new update to the repository... Oh no! what is happening here? I guess before we fetch something, it is good to know what is there to fetch first. To find out what is there to fetch, we run 'git remote -v' command and 'git remote add upstream <repo>' to see what is there to fetch. After that, lets try 'git fetch upstream' command again and now we can update the content to our local machine. After adding / editing the content from your local machine, now lets push it up to the repository. It will ask for our github username/password but in this case, i am not allowed to do so because (i think... maybe) i am not in the team yet. To solve this, xtr4nge will need to add collaborators to this repository and determine who can and cannot change what in it. Below are some of the sources that i use as reference. Changing access permissions for wikis - github.comgit, the simple guide.Adding collaborators - github.comGithub open source project

By not committing one single word of my post, I assume that there is nothing to do for me! pretty cool, so i can spend my time for something else Thanks for the now circumventive upcoming documentation, I'll look forward! selli

Hi guys, thanks a lot for all the ideas and the effort. I think will be better for the moment creating a new section called "Documentation" (I will do that). It will be easier for people to collaborate. The "owner" of the thread, can update and maintain the 1st post of the thread (such as what m3m0r3x is doing with the supported wifi adaptors), with the comments, info and ideas provided by other user. I think keeping the GitHub wiki will be interesting too, but for the moment lets focus on the forum. Thanks guys! I will create the new section asap! Regards

Hi,
sorry, but replacing a mess with another mess isnt the the way i like to spend my free time. I thought we will do something durable and reliable, but i was probably wrong.
I wish you all the best for the project, may your way doing things lead to success.
i am out.

Wow, that was escalated fast. That's fine, you can collaborate just if you want to do it.
Just for reference, I have been using my free time from the beginning of the project, spending hours and hours creating the core and all the modules without expecting anything in return.
I just get annoyed when people is claiming (not in a good manner) for support, documentation or whatever when I'm doing all of this for free.
Regards,

I came across this post while searching for 'FruityWifi Tutorials'. I've been intending to document/share what I learn/figure out and would be happy to do so here. I'd just like to offer my gratitude for what you've created and the fact you've shared it with us. When I'm able, I plan on donating.
