I have a fresh install of Kali 2(latest) on my RPi2. The package from the Kali repository fails due to the dependency squid3 being unavailable. So I got version 2.3 from github and used the install-FruityWifi script to install. I have logged into the web interface and configured my interfaces. When I click Start on Wireless on the status page it says it is doing something but it always comes back as disabled. I have tried different configurations but they all fail. Has anyone else seen this?

i ran into the same issues with kali 2016 rolling, the squid3 dependency which will not install is failing the whole thing, installing fruitywifi-core then apt-get the modules seems to work on the face value but functionality is broken, i had to install on raspbian jessie for it to work to the point of just getting the AP running but everything breaks, there is so many variables making me want to ditch trying this project as i have been trying now for a month with different configurations and overy time it crumbles on me.
We need a snapshot or a base image configured to work from first try to revert back to incase something goes wrong, at the moment i tried so many times to get a base fruitywifi that has the basic functions working but failed miserably.

I agree. I tried FruityWifi at version 1.9 from the RPi image and it worked GREAT!
Xtr4nge, is it possible to get a RPi2 image that has FruityWifi 2.3 working? If not, can you give us some hints on how to get it working? If I get a working base image I will share it.

Thorage, i am aiming at doing the same thing to get to a point where i have a solid foundation, I have to try the 1.9 image to feel for how it works as extr4nge intended it to be, i have high expectations so maybe they were set too high ? anyways, have you tried to update the 1.9 to 2.3 and see if its the fruitywifi that breaks things or the versions of the debian packages that do the break ?

I have not tried this yet. The original install I had working was on the RPi. I will try the 1.9 image on my RPi2 and upgrade then report back.

I will try the same also and report back also, my goal is use the Ada fruit display to make fruitywifi like this : youtu.be/GUU88w4kwvk , I also have the display-o-torn and was able to make it work with kali so i am aiming at making a nice self contained PWN machine

Hi, I found a couple of changes on Kali Linux Rolling that they are breaking FruityWiFi. The compatibility issues will be fixed on v2.4 On Debian Jessie or previous Kali Linux, you will not have any problem. Of course the hardware needs to be supported. Check the FAQ page and fruitywifi.boards.net/thread/59/suported-wlan-adapterregards,

Hi calippo, When you run the installer, the previous FruityWiFi version is moved into a backup folder (fruitywifi.BAK.{date}) inside the installer folder. After install the new version, you can move the modules from the backup folder to the new installed version (/usr/share/fruitywifi/modules/{module-name}) so you don't need to reinstall them. Note that in some updates, the old modules could have a compatibility issues, so the new modules should be installed.
About the two directories, I guess that you are talking about /usr/share/FruityWifi, that was deprecated before FruityWiFi v2.0, and only /usr/share/fruitywifi is required. Probably you got that folder from an old version (previous to v2.0)

Hi,
I did a clean 2.4 install on the Kali Rpi2 with the latest roll-ups and I get also the same messages during the installation:
BACKUP -------------------------------- mv: cannot stat ‘/usr/share/fruitywifi’: No such file or directory
Config log path -------------------------------- mkdir: cannot create directory ‘/usr/share/fruitywifi/logs’: No such file or directory sed: -e expression #1, char 11: unterminated `s' command [logs setup completed]

Hi doobie, The backup message is because you started with a clean version ( so there is not folder to backup ) The log_path message is something that I need to change in the installer, but it is not an error that you need to be worried about.

I would have to: rm -rf /usr/share/fruitywifi and also the directory where I cloned the github repo?
